How to make watercolour drawings like a real artist

In France we have an expression that says « la pomme ne tombe jamais loin de l’arbre », « the apple does not fall far from the tree », and in my family it’s true since one of my daughters also paints !

My daughter Gaëlle is a watercolor artist, she illustrated a collection of 12 books about signs of the zodiac.

Watercolour is one of the types of painting I propose in my art classes, especially when they are given outdoors.

I now give the floor, or rather « the brush » to my daughter to tell us about this very particular painting technique that is watercolor.

All about apples

For some people, October rhymes with leaf litter and melancholy, however, I am not one of them. Above all, October announces the time for apples! What a wonderful fruit. Thanks to my lovely house in Normandy, I have the opportunity to harvest kilograms of fruits every year. Therefore I can do one of the things that I like the most (after painting of course): cooking. Because what is more tempting that a fruit fallen from a tree?
A great thing about apples is that you can cook them in a sweet or in a salty dish: apple crumble, black pudding with apples, endive salad with blue cheese, nuts and apples… And it’s always tasty.

Exhibition in Pigalle district in Paris

Let me introduce you 78 oil paintings during my new exhibition in Paris.

As far as I know, painting and art always held an important place in my life. My parents were loving art : paintings, sculptures, furniture, antiques…, there were beautiful things at home, when I was young. And they passed on to me their passion.

I’m always delighted to welcome people in my studio for an art class. To transmit to them my passion for the painting and to give of good advice. And I am very proud when they are inspired by my paintings to realize their own creation!

The second-hand booksellers in Paris

Every morning my day starts with the same ritual. Before my first painting class, I sit in front of my huge mug filled up with a nice steaming tea. And I’m reading my book. Always doing the same movements… I take a few sips of my lemon tea while reading a page of my Novel. A novel buy in a second-hand booksellers. It is so delightful!

Of course, I’ve already read Balzac, Proust and Hugo and they are wonderful writers. But I like reading foreign literature as well and especially American books. My favorite at the moment, and you might know his work, is Ed McBain, “87e district”.
