Paris is famous for its cultural richness: its incredible architecture, its must-see monuments and its permanent and temporary numerous exhibitions. We count no less than 108 museums in Paris, for the utmost pleasure of art lovers of any age, adults and children. Parisians love art!

On the museums’ way with children

Yet, some adults try not to bring their children in museums. They are afraid that they would get bored, disturb the other visitors or touch the pieces… Thus, museums have decided to reconcile both parents and kids with culture. And proposing activities dedicated to the youngest ones.

The Jacquemart-André Museum organizes visits through its permanent exhibitions for children aged from 4 to 6 y.o and from 7 to 12 y.o. They would discover the museum’s masterpieces while taking part in an animal hunt, for the youngest ones, or in a police investigation for the oldest ones.

Every Sunday, the Musée d’Orsay set up a family playful discovery-route which allows children from 6 to 12 y.o to get familiar with the paintings and sculptures in a fun and instructive way. « Elementary, dear Monet ».

The Louvre Museum highlights Greece and Egypt. It suggests kids from 6 to 8 y.o to roam the palace and gather small objects in their personalized « treasure chest ». The oldest ones can try themselves to various artistic techniques: pastel, watercolour, gouache…
On the website, you also have the possibility to print discovery-routes. They allow the youngest ones to discover the museum in a playful way.
Moreover, a large majority of museums propose discounts or free entries for children.

When children become artists

Some appreciate above all admiring the pieces. Others are keen to experiment the new and throw themselves headlong into art.
The « Musée en herbe » set up baby-workshops (from 2 years and a half old to 4 y.o) and maxi-workshops (for the older ones).
The workshops are separated in two parts. A time provided for a playful visit of the museum, and a 4-hands assisted moment of creation with an adult.

You could also be seduced by a family painting course proposed by an artist.
